Rodrigo Medellín: the biologist that tequila and mezcal need

Storytime: You know Mexico, full of drug dealers, massive murders, journalists being killed, our not so very intelligent president, tequila, mezcal and the beautiful beaches.

I interviewed, however, one of Mexico’s most valuable biologists in the whole world, when it comes to take care of bats, Rodrigo Medellín is our guy. In fact, he earned the nickname “Batman of Mexico”.

Most mortals don’t realize that the bats, those night creatures, are of extremely importance for the world to have mexican tequila and mezcal. Medellín however, has worked his entire life to protect them and saved this species in Mexico from disappearing.

To get an idea, Sir David Attenborough made a documentray about him and I wrote his story: http://www.sinembargo.mx/08-02-2015/1223704
